For a while it seemed that McLaren’s adventurous strategy in qualifying on the option tyres had blown up in their faces as Hamilton and Button both pitted before the eighth lap. But both were in contention thereafter. The F-duct helped Hamilton to deal with Alonso on the final straight, after he’d lost second place to the Spaniard in the drag race as they exited the pits on lap seven. Thereafter he was able to pace himself, stop once more, and lead Button home by 2.2s to take over the lead of the world championship. Button had preserved his tyres as much he dared, eased away from a hungry Vettel in mid-race traffic, then jumped Alonso when the Spaniard was delayed lapping Chandhok on the 56th lap. Thereafter the two silver cars reeled off the laps for another 43 point haul which extended their constructors’ championship lead to 215 points to Red Bull’s 193 and Ferrari’s 161.

Red Bull has confirmed that Mark Webber has extended his contract and will stay with the team in 2011. The news comes hot on the heels of the Istanbul controversy and will go some way to calming things down.

Over the winter Webber had been rumored to be contemplating retirement, and it was widely believed that Kimi Raikkonen had a deal in place to take over the seat, should he want to return to f1 in 2011. However Christian Horner recently denied that there was any such arrangement.

“It was an easy decision to remain with Red Bull Racing," said Webber in a statement. "We began talking very early this year and were in a position to sign by the Barcelona Grand Prix. The decision to extend for a further year was a mutual one; it’s widely know that I’m not interested in hanging around in Formula One just for the sake of it and at this stage of my career, I’m happy to take one year at a time. I continue to feel very comfortable here – I have a fantastic relationship with the whole team and the factory at Milton Keynes feels like home.

"I doubt that trip across the Atlantic for the next round in Montreal will extinguish these fireworks," the BBC commentator said on Monday, as the international media got to work on Sebastian Vettel's crash at Istanbul Park with race leader and teammate Mark Webber.

The Sun's headline referred to the one-two gift handed to McLaren, toying with the energy drink's slogan by insisting "Red Bull gives you wins".

Other sections of the press were more serious.

"Red Bull has a conflict of jealously and betrayal," said El Mundo newspaper in Spain.

Italy's La Repubblica likened the previously dominant team's self-destruction to "suicide".

Britain's The Independent referred to the fact that Webber, branded crazy by Vettel's gesture and told by his bosses that he should have let the young German past, must now have the impression he is the number two driver.

Webber acknowledged that Vettel's gestures were caused by the "adrenalin" of the moment, but "Red Bull need to take steps to ensure the current world championship leader can have complete faith that the support within the team is spread evenly", said the newspaper.

And Germany's Auto Motor und Sport noted that the 33-year-old is "not the kind of guy who is told to finish second".

Strangely within the paddock, it was only the Red Bull bosses who thought Webber had done something wrong.

We're 7 weeks away until the first session in Bahrain.

Here's an update, short and sweet.

*Schumacher is ready for Mercedes. There is no sign of his neck injury from last year.

*Kubica is still alone at Renault. Skeptics say that Heidfield will join him soon.

*USF1 says they're definitely ready for round 1!

*De La Rosa signs with Sauber.

I did a little sketch today of how my wheels will look once the lip is painted. I bought 17mm chrome blue lugs and fatlace/Hellaflush center cap overlays. The blue will be much brighter than the image. Think "Windows Task bar Blue" :o)

New Equipment: Traktor Scratch & Dell Inspiron

Well, I made the plunge and got a DVS. I chose Traktor Scratch for it's reliability. I got a great deal on a new Dell Inspiron laptop so that's what I'll be using right now. I've spoken with my PC dj's along with Mac dj's and think Traktor runs better on a Windows OS. I've used it at two gigs so far and both went pretty flawless. I'll try and record a video on how it works. Here is the NI video presenting Traktor Scratch Duo.
